ENGLISH TEXT OF SWAMIJI'S ( HIS HOLINESS SRI SRI BHARATHI THEERTHA MAHA SWAMIJI, SRI SHANKARACHARYA OF SHARADA PEETAM, SRINGERI. ) ANUGRAHA BHASHANAM (BLESSINGS SPEECH).
“It is imperative that Dharma be practiced for the welfare of mankind. The Vedas are the source for the realization of this truth and which is why our Dharma is known as “Vaideeka Dharma ”.
The Vedas are the basic authority for ultimate solace and welfare for mankind. They are the invaluable treasures offered to mankind by God Almighty. Chanting of the Vedas is absolutely essential. Sri Bhagawath Padha Shankarar in HIS holy advice addressed in the very beginning said, “ Vedo Nithyamadiyatam“. It is absolutely essential to learn the Vedas. Dharma should be practiced in day-to-day life in the manner prescribed in Vedas. Only through this can the ultimate objective of our birth be achieved. In ancient times, the Vedas were frequently preached to the society at large in an explicit manner. Such preaching of the Vedas is not taking place nowadays and the effect of Vedic teachings is therefore fading day by day. The more we preach the Vedas, the more is the prosperity for mankind.
Keeping this objective in mind, an organization called the “Veda Sasthra Vidya Trust” was established and it runs a Patasala known as the Singanallur Narasimha Iyer Veda Patasala in Palakkad District, Kerala, India. It is a matter of great pride and happiness for all of us in the society. This Patasala teaches Rig & Yajur Vedas in a systematic and professional manner and the welfare of the students is well taken care of through appropriate facilities organized at the Patasala. In addition, the Athyabakhs ( teachers ) are also taken care of so well that it ensures that their efficiency levels are optimum in their areas of responsibilities.
This Patasala enjoys a rare distinction of bringing out five students as Vedic pandits who have completed the Ghanam course and this very fact substantiates the truth that the Patasala is being run in an orderly and professional manner. This Patasala is affiliated to Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetam. The Managing Trustee Sri S.N. Varadarajan runs this Vedic school with his absolute involvement and utmost concentration and sincerity. I take this opportunity to express my desire that it is essential for well-wishers who are interested in protecting the Vedas to support this noble Patasala with their mite.
On this occasion I convey my blessings that all concerned in the society be benefited immensely by attainment of eternal bliss and prosperity by the grace of Lord Veda Bhagvan."
